The use of Credit Reference Bureau (CRB) services by financial service providers and the general public is still very low in Rwanda, despite the fact that credit reference services have been available for the past five years. There is limited Information analytics on borrower’s credit worthiness which affects the lending decisions of financial institutions. On the other hand, consumers have limited awareness and understanding of how to develop good credit history which could facilitate their credit worthiness. This dilemma results in limited access to credit for would be good clients especially individuals and micro enterprises.
We are therefore working towards exploring mobile technologies to improve the service delivery and its uptake, where at least new 8,000 individuals will be able to use a mobile application to access credit reports. This project will be completed in 12 months.
