Eric Musizana is currently the Project Officer, Agriculture & Rural Finance, since December 2016 at Access to Finance Rwanda (AFR), a non for profit independent company that focuses on stimulating financial sector development to increase access and use of financial services. Under agriculture and Rural finance, he provides technical and practical support to develop a comprehensive portifolio of innovative agriculture finance projects.
Prior to this work, Eric Musizana worked at SPARK Rwanda, where he contributed to the development of agribusiness cooperatives through provision of Business development services in the specific value chains of Maize, Beans, Horticulture and Irish Potatoes. Over a period of 2.5 years, the focus was put on assisting agribusiness cooperatives (Producer Organizations) come up with clear marketing strategies to enable them build stronger long term business relations with clients. Access to finance focusing on enhancing financial skills of POs to get ready for financing and collaborating with Micro finance institutions to develop agricultural loan products targeting smallholder farmers was also part of his work. He has also served as M&E Officer in charge of data management both at cooperative and program level.
Between 2012 and 2014, he worked as an investment promotion specialist at Rwanda Development board (RDB), a Government institution focusing on accelerating the country’s economic development through private investments in the different sectors including agriculture.
Eric Musizana holds a Bachelor’s degree in Rural Development and agribusiness obtained in the former “Higher Institute of Agriculture and Animal Husbandry” (ISAE), currently University of Rwanda.
