Martin Karenzi

Senior Program Manager – Enterprise Growth

Martin Karenzi is the Senior Programme Manager – Enterprise Growth at Access to Finance Rwanda (AFR), where he leads the design and implementation of market-driven programmes that enhance the productivity, competitiveness, and resilience of micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs). His work focuses on strengthening Rwanda’s entrepreneurship ecosystem, supporting enterprises to become investment-ready and access finance, and promoting inclusive and sustainable private sector development.

Martin brings over a decade of professional experience in enterprise development, tourism and hospitality, and sustainable economic development. Prior to joining AFR, he worked with the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ), supporting initiatives in SME competitiveness, national tourism strategies, tourism product development, destination management, and skills development across Rwanda. He also gained industry experience through roles with Kigali Marriott Hotel, New Dawn Associates and as freelancing tour guide, contributing to tourism operations and community-based enterprise development.

Martin holds a bachelor’s degree in Travel and Tourism Management from Rwanda Tourism University College and is currently pursuing a Master of Business Administration (MBA) with specialization in Sustainability at Nexford University. His key areas of expertise include enterprise growth support, business advisory and coaching, programme management, sustainable tourism development, and inclusive private sector development.
