- About David Rukundo
David Rukundo is the Investment Manager at Access to Finance Rwanda (AFR), where he contributes to the design and implementation of catalytic investment programs aimed at strengthening Rwanda’s MSME ecosystem. In his role, he leads the deployment of the Grow to Scale (G2S) Catalytic Fund, manages strategic partnerships, oversees fund utilization and risk management, and supports monitoring, learning, and impact measurement to ensure sustainable private sector growth.
David brings over a decade of experience spanning investment management, venture capital fund operations, portfolio management, financial reporting, and central banking. Prior to joining AFR, he served as a Venture Capital Fund Operations Manager for the Government of Rwanda, coordinating a USD 15 million Venture Capital fund and strengthening governance, compliance, and fund manager performance. He also held senior roles at the National Bank of Rwanda, where he was involved in managing an over USD 1 billion reserves portfolio, global financial settlements, and structuring derivative financial instruments.
David holds an MBA from Edinburgh Business School, Heriot-Watt University, and a BSc in Applied Accounting from Oxford Brookes University. He is a Chartered Accountant (FCCA) and a CFA Level III Candidate, with expertise in investment strategy, fund structuring, and financial sector development.
